This page will walk you through what happens next, how you’ll connect with your local Challenge Coach, and how billing works.

Step 1: Join BAND!
After enrolling, you received a welcome email inviting you to join your local Life Lab group in the BAND app. Your enrollment isn’t finished until you are on this app! Your coach won’t know you’ve enrolled if they don’t see you on BAND.
BAND is where your local Life Lab community will stay connected. Your Challenge Coach will use BAND to share:
- Class times and availability
- Schedule updates
- Reminders
- Important announcements
- Local Life Lab information
Please join your BAND group as soon as you receive the invitation. If you haven’t received it within 24 hours of registration, please send us a message at me*****@**************ge.com and let us know!
Step 2: Connect With Your Challenge Coach
Once you are inside your local BAND group, your Challenge Coach will reach out to you directly.
They’ll let you know what class times are currently available and help you determine the best option for your student.
Life Lab classes are generally grouped by age:
Ages 7–12
Ages 13–18
Your coach will provide the specific schedule available in your area.
Step 3: Watch for Your Life Lab Invoice
You’ll receive a Life Lab invoice by email.
The invoice is your official record of the services and amount due, whether you are paying privately or using homeschool education funds.
Private Pay Families
If you are paying privately, simply use the online payment option included with your invoice.
Families Using Homeschool Funds
If you are using an ESA, EFA, scholarship, or other homeschool education funding program, do not worry if the payment process looks different from another state.
Each state has its own requirements.
In most states we are categorized as a tutoring service!
Depending on your program, you may be asked to:
- Upload the Life Lab invoice yourself
- Select Life Lab from your program’s marketplace
- Request or reserve services through your funding portal
- Approve a service request
- Complete another step before Life Lab is allowed to submit for payment
In some states, Life Lab can initiate the payment request. In others, the parent must take the first step before we are able to request payment.
We’ll provide instructions based on the funding program you are using.
Important: Your Life Lab Invoice May Still Show a Balance
Families using homeschool funds will still receive a Life Lab invoice.
This does not necessarily mean you need to pay it personally.
The invoice allows us to keep an accurate record of your student’s enrollment and payment. Once payment is received through your homeschool funding program, we’ll apply that payment to your Life Lab invoice and mark it paid.
If your homeschool program does not cover the full amount or a payment is denied, we’ll contact you before expecting you to make a personal payment.
Step 4: Get Ready for Your First Challenge
Once your class time is confirmed and payment arrangements are in place, you’re ready!
Your student does not need to prepare anything special before their first Life Lab class unless your Challenge Coach tells you otherwise.
Life Lab is built around practical, real-world challenges that help students develop skills in areas such as:
- Problem-solving
- Communication
- Decision-making
- Budgeting and money skills
- Planning
- Teamwork
- Personal responsibility
- Everyday independence
Students learn by doing, discussing, deciding, and defending their choices — not by sitting through another traditional lecture.
